Sitges – International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia – in partnership with Mobile World Capital Barcelona and publicity agents Sr. Watson– have created Phonetastic Sitges Mobile Film Festival. This new venture aims to take advantage and to power all the potential of a new generation of mobile devices such as smartphones and tablets as movie-making tools and film community platform to promote new talent and to give world-wide exposure to their productions.

PHONETASTIC is also much more than a film fest. It also include:

• Master-classes by top film talent.
• Tutorial workshops produced by the best experts showing you how to use the most innovative apps to create your own films.

PHONETASTIC is also a social network, news and content platform, constantly updated and in permanent interaction with its followers.
PHONETASTIC is a parallel section of the Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia, and every year this prestigious show will hold the PHONETASTIC awards ceremony.
The Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia has been declared “Qualified Festival” by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences®. That makes Sitges able to present its award-winning shorts from its Official and Animation sections as candidates for the Oscars®.
Each edtion of Sitges, and according to the criteria of the Festival’s selection committee, some of the films competing in PHONESTASTIC could be also be included in the “Best Short Film” and “Best Animation Short Film “ competitions, with the possibility of winning the awards and automatically make it to the Oscars® race.
This means that participating in PHONETASTIC puts your short a little bit closer to Hollywood.
